NADFAS Celebrating the Surrey Hills

Photographic Competition

As part of the Celebrating Surrey Festival to be held at Loseley Park on 26-27 June, NADFAS (National Association of Decorative & Fine Arts Societies) and the Surrey Hills Society are organising a digital Photographic Competition for young people ages 5 to 16 years.

How to Enter

All you need to do is capture an image which celebrates the special nature of the Surrey Hills.

It could be a stunning view, local wildlife, an unusual building - something that celebrates this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The competition is open to young people aged 5 to 16.  There are 3 age categories for entries:

• Ages 5 to 8
• Ages 9 to 12
• Ages 13 to 16

One entry is allowed per person and should be submitted by e-mail to surreyhills@nadfaseastsurreyarea.org.uk
or on a disk to:
NADFAS–Surrey Hills Society Photographic Competition,
Warren Farm Barns,
Headley Lane,
Mickleham, Dorking RH5 6DG

Terms & Conditions
• Entries may be black and white or colour.
• Images must be supplied as JPEG files and should be at least 1MB 300 dpi.
• Please name the file clearly with the title of the image and your surname eg Abinger_Smith.
• Include your name, age, e-mail address, telephone number and the title of your photograph.

Prizes, donated by NADFAS, will be awarded for the best entries in each category as decided by a panel of judges led by Susan Hill FRPS, MPAGB, EFIAP of Dorking Camera Club.  These will be the images which, in the judges’ opinion, are the most original and best celebrate the special nature of the Surrey Hills.  The judges’ decision is final.  In addition the winner of each category will receive a year’s Family Membership of the Surrey Hills Society and a copy of Jane Garrett's new book "A Portrait of the Surrey Hills".

All entrants agree that their name and competition photograph entry may be displayed on a screen during the Celebrating Surrey Festival; the winning entries may subsequently be used as a promotional image and appear on the website.  We regret that no entries can be returned and any entries considered unfit for projection in public will be refused.

The closing date for entering the competition is Friday, 21 May.  The winners will be notified by 12 June and prizes will be presented at the Celebrating Surrey Festival at Loseley Park on Saturday, 26 June.  Parents/Guardians’ permission is requested for publication of photographs of the prize presentation.
